How do you say ROSCA DE REYES in English?

A Lousiana KINGCAKE looks a bit different from Latin American KINGCAKES.

Yes, ROSCA DE REYES, at least in the state of Lousiana is called KINGCAKE or KING CAKE. This is a tradition usually observed among Catholics who in the United States are commonly French descendants mostly living in Lousiana, or Latin Americans.
They all share this tradition, but there is a substantial difference: the decoration. Traditional Lousiana KINGCAKES emphasize the presence of the following colors: purple that symbolizes justice, the green that symbolizes faith, and the gold that symbolizes power. Latin American KINGCAKES tend to look different, and if any, the colors associated are red and green.

a Latin American KINGCAKE.

KINGCAKE or KING CAKE are not the only terms to describe this delicious example of pastry. THREE KINGS' CAKE, KING'S CAKE or CROWN CAKE are also possible, and of course there are those who just call it by their original Spanish name (of course not in Lousiana): ROSCA DE REYES.

The rosca de reyes is a very beautiful tradition because it refers to the arrival of the Magi, who with gifts, paid homage to the newborn Child Jesus.

I love to enjoy the traditional rosca de reyes with my family. It is a tradition that I have carried for 15 years. In addition, according to this thread, the 3 wise men come with incense, look and gold.
IT's delicious and wonderfull.
celebrating the rosca de reyes on January 6 is a tradition that everyone likes, although there are exceptions, but sharing that rosca as a family makes it fun, at least in my family when the rosca de reyes is cut and the person touch the toy boy his turn to make a barbecue

Thanks for that very good information.

Hello Mr. Bermudes, I find this blog very interesting. Celebrating the rosca de reyes on January 6 is a tradition that many people like, but my family does not celebrate that day.

The Kingcake It is an aperitif that is consumed on Kings Day; a tradition that many families have, this consists of buying a rosca decorated with significant colors to celebrate the day of kings. This is why it is called kingcake or Crown cake.
In my family it is not common to make a dinner for the Day of the Kings, but without a doubt it is very nice to have an excuse or something to be able to share with the family and taste the deliciousness of the Roscas de Reyes.

As us here in Latin America, there are many traditions that we sahre with other places just with a few changes, and it is very intersting to see how things are different between one culture and another.
It is true, Mr. Bermudez, the "rosca de Reyes" is a custom to break a loaf of bread, which is characterized by its circular shape, symbol of God's eternal love that has no beginning or end.

It is a very beautiful tradition, of family union and in itself the meaning of colors is beautiful to share emotional words and good wishes in these times where beautifully understood that the material is too much and there is nothing more beautiful than living every detail every important date with our family.
