Batman: The Animé Movie

Image
would you like to see Batman receive the Animé treatment? If your answer is yes, then this is the right movie for you. It is actually a group of six short films developed in Anime style of the highest possible quality by studios of the stature of Madhouse (the same that produced Vampire Hunter D and Highlander) and others. These films were released in 2005 right in between Batman Begins and  The Dark Knight but they are not necessarily part of the story told in the trilogy that Christopher Nolan directed. With that said it is still undeniable that there are in these films details that demonstrate how heavily Nolan's Batman movies influenced Batman: Gotham Knight  which is the name given to this collection. Some of those details are a Morgan Freeman look alike Lucius Fox, the use of Agent Ramírez who only appears in the movies but not in the comics, or villains who are principally mobsters and their henchmen. And this is another characteristic of this production: classic el...

Iron Man: Rise of The Technovore

Image
For all those who cannot have enough Iron Man here is one of those Anime-styled productions that Marvel has been releasing in the last few years and that have also received great reviews for both the quality of animation and the story that aims at a somewhat older audience than your regular kid. This production is a follow to the twelve-episode story that finds Stark visiting Japan where he leads a project to help mankind with the help of his Japanese associates; but before he can finish it he faces the fiercest opposition of a criminal and powerful society called The Zodiac.  After his visit to Japan, Stark wants to send to space a satellite called Howard (like his father) that will help control crime all over the world. Supervising that everything is in order along his friend Jim Rhodes a.k.a. The War Machine the launch site of the satellite suffers a terrorist attack and a lot of innocents die. Even the War Machine is presumed dead and his body nowhere to be found afte...

Sword Art Online: When Fantasy is All Too Real

Image
This story is set in the near future when apparently people have a lot of time to spend. One of the greatest forms of entertainment is playing as a character in a virtual reality game called Sword Art Online. The very first day thousands of people log in and soon they they find it is impossible to log out. The only way to log out is precisely to finish the game anf for that it is necessary to go through one hundred different levels, each one protected at the end by a "boss" more powerful than the previous one. Since the player's conciousness was inside the reality of the game the real player also remained asleep and besides disconnecting him or her from the machine that allowed the interface would mean instant death. One of the players who has taken the name Kirito is quite skilled and si determiend to beat the game. In his quest he falls in love with a girl called Asuna. it is thanks to her that Kirito discovers that Kabaya Akihiko, the creator of SAO (Sword Art Onli...

Another

Image
Another is not just another Anime series since it is actually based on a novel of the same title by Japanese writer, Yukito Ayatsuji. It tells the story of Koichi Sakakibara who has recently transferred to a new school where he befriends a mysterious and lonely girl called Mei Misaki who wears a patch on where her left eye should be. It turns out that the class where both study, the 3-3, has for long been victim of a "calamity" that began when in 1972 a student of that class, Misaki, died horribly. This fact impressed his classmates who were not only shocked by that awful event but also by the loss itself since Misaki was truly loved by them. In a way, to keep his lost friend in their lives they began acting as though Misaki were still alive. This strange bahevior was somehow accepted and imitated by everyone else even teachers and authorities, but this was not without consequence. Soon untimely and awful events led to the unexplained deaths of other students and those wh...

Blade: Anime Series

Image
Blade is a Marvel character, one of those that are too dark to be considered a superhero because of the violence they have to use in order to dispose of their enemies. Still Marvel owes a lot  to this character because hismovies were the first successful live Marvel films ever. Before Blade movies all of the attempts Marvel had made to produce movies with characters such as The Fantastic Four and Captain America had been pretty unsuccessful perhaps due to poor scripts or lousy actors or just it was not the right time for that to happen. But when Wesley Snipes was hired to become Blade the panorama changed for Marvel and ever since it has been one success after another (with some disappointmens but the ups have definitely been more than the downs). So it was justice that after Blade had a successful trilogy, there was a TV series and most recently in 2012 Blade got the Anime treatment. As a result of a project Iron Man, then Wolverine, and later the X-Men were each given a twe...

Dragonball: Battle of the Gods

Image
Have you not had enough of Dragon Ball Z already? I haven't, so that's why I was happy to know that a new Dragon Ball Z movie has been announced and its premiere will be on March 13, 2013. Though in one way or another there has been Dragon Ball material out there whether in the form of video games or the remastering of Dragon Ball Z (known as Dragon Ball Kai), this is different in some ways.  First, it is not a special or anything like that. It is a MOVIE (an animated film) and its theatrical release has already been teased in a trailer that is in the Internet already  Akira Toriyama is back to work once again in his immortal creation. Imagine that: the first time was a delight, surely the second time will be a feast.  It is called Battle of Gods because indeed two deities intervene. One is the god of creation Wils and the other, the god of Destruction, Bils. Of course Goku is ecstatic with the idea of fighting a strong contender, but perhaps this god is mor...

Saint Seiya: Lost Canvas ¿La continuarán?

Image
