Blade: Anime Series

Blade is a Marvel character, one of those that are too dark to be considered a superhero because of the violence they have to use in order to dispose of their enemies. Still Marvel owes a lot  to this character because hismovies were the first successful live Marvel films ever. Before Blade movies all of the attempts Marvel had made to produce movies with characters such as The Fantastic Four and Captain America had been pretty unsuccessful perhaps due to poor scripts or lousy actors or just it was not the right time for that to happen. But when Wesley Snipes was hired to become Blade the panorama changed for Marvel and ever since it has been one success after another (with some disappointmens but the ups have definitely been more than the downs).
So it was justice that after Blade had a successful trilogy, there was a TV series and most recently in 2012 Blade got the Anime treatment. As a result of a project Iron Man, then Wolverine, and later the X-Men were each given a twelve-episode-long series in which these characters visited Asia, particularly Japan of course,  for different reasons and had adventures there. The Anime rendition was a collaboration with the Japanese company Madhouse (the ones who produce Vampire Hunter D and Death Note) so the quality was insured. Blade, Marvel's vampire hunter,  was also given a series of twelve episodes.
Blade is a man who has all the powers of a vampire but none of his weaknesses to the point he can even walk in the sunlight which is why is called "The Daywalker". He hates vampires and his only purpose is to eliminate them all using his own abilities and the training he has obtained throughout the years. The series tells you why Blade has gone to Asia. He is following the trail left by a vampire called Deacon Frost, who in his past life was an eminent professor whose son got killed by a vampire. In order to take revenge Frost himself becomes a vampire and uses all his knowledge to create new more powerful and bizarre vampires which he will use to make war to the all-powerful High Council of Vampires. Unbekownst to Blade Frost is luring Blade to use trap him so he can use Blade's unique genetic material to improve his monstrous creations.
As the series progresses we get to see glimpses of Blade´s past, his origin and training, so if you do not know the character watching the series is enough. Blade has allies of his own and gets others to help him (even Wolverine makes an appearance in episode 7).  The plot is not linear and the characters' personalities and motivations are explained carefully when delving into their pasts. Visually speaking Blade is everything you can expect from a good Anime series though there is not the unnecessary gore and bloodshed that you see in other vampire-inspired productions.
The Daywalker may not be much of a talker but his sword, his actions and the threats he faces when hunting vampires do all the talking  for him.
