How do you say ALPISTE in English?
We couldn't get any bird to appear in this pic. Maybe these should be called NONBIRDSEEDS! |
English tends to put together words in order to form other words. The idea is that the meanings of both terms contribute to creating a new one that ties to the words that were used for this purpose, e.g. windshield = a shield to protect you from the wind.
Amusing? Perhaps. Practical? Definitely!
And ALPISTE is no exception. In English, it is BIRDSEED or CANARY SEED.
