Efficacy or Efficiency?
"Yes, yes, that's me. Now I understand what Efficacy is!" |
Though similar in meaning they are not the same.
EFFICACY refers to the quality of something or somebody to perform a job. It doesn't refer to how well the job is done. Some medicines are efficacious and cure patients but perhaps not so well so there are sequels because those medicines may be Efficacious but not Efficient really.
EFFICIENCY indicates how well a task is performed. It is not only about getting the job done but doing it well. If a medicine cures a disease we could say it has been Efficacious but if it also cured without causing any major inconvenience or pain unlike other medicines of the same kind then we could say our medicine has been more Efficient.
