Silver Linings Playbook

Jennifer lawrence, who was already famous for being the star of The Hunger Games, shows in this movie how wonderful an actress she can be if given the chance. No wonder she was awarded the Oscar for best leading actress because she does a pretty good job and the film improves alot when her character appeard
Now there is also Bradley Cooper who should have been awarded with something but was not. When you the movie you will find his performance is outstanding , only not as good as that of Lawrence's. Or perhaps the Academy members are in love with this young actress and arer ready to forget everything, even her natural clumsiness.
Pat (Bradley Cooper) is amn with abipolar disorder which constantly gets him into trouble. He was sent into psychiatric hospital after beating up man in his house who was having sex with his wife. After being released he is sent to his parents´house with restraining orders that forbid him to get close to a certain number of people from his last job and also his wife. Also, Pat does not seem to be the only one  in his family with mental problems. He has an older brother who loves to let Pat see that whatever he has is better than what Pat has, and his father (Robert De Niro) is a  diehard baseball fan who also loves betting. He believes Pat is a good-luck charm and is constantly asking Pat to attend the game because he onestly believeshis team, The Eagles of Philadelphia will win. Pat also has a friend who is mild-mannered but also seems to have probems of his own. This friend invites him over for dinner and his sister in law, the recently widowed Tyffany who seems to have a neurosis of her own (everybody in this movie seems to hasve one). Tyffany and Pat become friends, only very odd friends. Tyffany convinces Pat to practice with her to particpate in a dancing competition. What happens after that, how everything comes together to a soap-opera kind of ending that is still original and more importantly, pretty exciting, is the icing of the cake so to speak.
I loved the acting and the way the plot is developed. Cooper creates a character that is believable to the point you feel sorry for what he is going through. De Niro has already grown a lot into  roles like this so his performance does not bring any surprises, nothing that we have not seen before. Jacki Weaver (Pat's mother) provides a touching presence by being the perfect suffering mother who does everything to keep his family together, just see the expression on her face when her two sons hug forgiving each other for past misgivings. What a wonderful actress! And of course there is Jenniffer Lawrence whose Oscar says it all.
Pretty entertaining filmwith a profound philosophical message.
Five stars out of five for this one.
