How do you say Clásico in English?
If you mean something has become timeless and is therefore never out of fashion then that is a CLASSIC in English or Spanish (CLÁSICO).
e.g. Imagine (the famous song by John Lennon)
When something or someone serves as a standard for others then it is called CLASSIC as well.
e.g. Oliver Twist is a classic example of a social-oriented novel in the Victorian age.
But if you mean a match between two rival teams that belong to the same city, a genuine cross-city rivalry, then CLASSIC is not the word to be used. DERBY game is more appropriate.
e.g. Barcelona (Ecuador) - Emelec
In Ecuador it is called The Shipyard Derby because both teams are based in a port-city, in a section of that city close to a shipyard. The shipyard has seen better days but the intensity of every edition of The Shipyard Derby has never decreased. There have been attempts to create other derby games in Ecuador but they have been fruitless and perhaps will continue so for a long time.
There is simply no other game in my country that arises passions the way a Barcelona-Emelec game does.
